ADULT BIBLE STUDY: “ALL NIGHT, ALL DAY, ANGELS WATCHING OVER ME”
Have you ever wondered about the existence of angels? Angels, appear in the greatest of biblical moments: at the gates of the Garden of Eden, at the birth of Christ, and at the tomb of the resurrection. But often Christians tend to either dismiss angels as fantasy or caricaturize them as one-dimensional cherubs. Beginning TODAY, Wednesday, September 29th, at 11:00am through November 3rd, in the St. Augustine Library, we will embark on a six-week adult bible study to look at various stories of angelic appearances and recall what God has done before but also to watch for what God is doing now. PET BLESSING & EUCHARISTIC EVENSONG THIS Sunday, October 3rd, at 5:00pm during our Eucharistic Evensong we will have our Annual Blessing of Pets in the Nave. As in years past, we encourage you bring your feathered, finned, and furry friends to this exciting St. Augustine event! BLESSING OF STUFFED ANIMALS As part of our celebration of St. Francis/ Creation Sunday, all children and youth are invited to bring their stuffed animals to be blessed at the 10:45am service THIS Sunday, October 3rd. WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 1, 2021 AT SAINT AUGUSTINE OF CANTERBURY EPISCOPAL CHURCH, OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA9/1/2021 THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
Thanks to all who lovingly contributed, the St. Augustine community was able to present just under $6,000 for Deacon Robby’s discretionary fund. This gift will be used at St. James, OKC, Deacon Robby’s new assignment. Thank you each for all the love and support shown to Linda and Deacon Robby Trammell, they will be greatly missed! MINISTRY HIGHLIGHT: EUCHARISTIC ASSISTANTS The Eucharistic Assistants Team at Saint Augustine is made up adults, mature teens and even children serving as an acolyte who may help with extra responsibilities. Eucharistic Assistants robe for the service, process in with the clergy, and serve at and around the altar during worship. You may see them carry the silver cross (Crucifer), assist with communion, ring the Sanctus (altar) Bells, collect the offering basket to bring to the altar, and much more. Eucharistic Assistants are a perfect team to serve on because you can volunteer while you're already at church, and you serve on a team. Win-win! Ongoing training and support is always provided to help those serving feel comfortable and confident. We'd love to see you on the team! If you would like to hear more or volunteer, contact Ricky Womack at hmcdoc@hotmail.com. BELLS ARE RINGING After being silent for far too long, the bells of Saint Augustine are ringing loud and clear once again! We owe a debt of gratitude to member Tom Norton, who took the lead in the details and work of this complicated repair. We’re also grateful for the contributions of dear parish members who helped cover the cost. Through a true team effort we can once again enjoy the bells at the beginning and end of our services.
