In fact, over the past 20 months we have all experienced a great deal of change in our world. Nothing will ever be the same again, and maybe that’s not such a bad thing. Change arouses us from the sleep of complacency and shakes us from apathy. It is with that knowledge in mind that we prepare to enter the 2021 Season of Advent. As the church embarks upon a new liturgical year, we are called to change our way of living and look in a new direction. So, during the four weeks of Advent we will do just that. Beginning on the First of Advent, November 28th, our liturgical space will be transformed. One of the most notable changes will be the placement of the altar near the entrance of the Nave so that when we celebrate the eucharist we will look towards the east - the direction of the rising sun and Bethlehem. This change will thus emphasize the theme of preparation and joyful expectation for the birth of the Sun of Righteousness. While such changes to the worship space may seem trivial to some, we hope that the thoughtful preparation of St. Augustine’s physical environment will communicate that Advent is a different and special season, set apart from ordinary rhythms for a particular purpose. LAS POSADAS – “THE INNS” Enrich your preparation for the coming of Christ by opening your heart and your home to Mary and Joseph this season. The Holy Family will begin their journey on the first Sunday of Advent, November 28th, after the 10:45 service and return to the Church on Christmas Eve. Mary and Joseph will spend one night in your house and then travel to another location for the next night. Please sign up in the Commons Area to house Mary & Joseph for a night. ADVENT WREATH MAKING EVENT Join us on Sunday, November 21st from 9:35am for Advent Wreath Making! All will be welcome and encouraged to attend this class hosted by Susan Shebester and Fr. Joseph! All supplies, including fragrant fresh evergreen boughs and candles will be provided for you.
