ANNUAL PARISH MEETING - SAVE THE DATE! Our Annual Parish Meeting will take place Sunday, February 6th at 11:30am, following ONE SERVICE ONLY at 10am. We’ll be sharing vestry elections, reports by rector and wardens, budget presentations and voting on nominees for Annual Convention. 2022 DIOCESAN CONVENTION DELEGATES NEEDED Would you like to self-nominate or nominate a friend to be a delegate to 2022 Diocesan Convention, held at St. Crispin’s Camp and Conference Center, on October 7th and 8th, 2022. Delegates would be expected to attend a variety of informational sessions, listen to keynote speakers and other presenters, and help vote on agenda items and resolutions. There will also be opportunities for worship, socializing and fellowship, hikes, and enjoying St. Crispin’s. Accommodations and meals are provided, although you must drive yourself (or carpool) to St. Crispin’s. To serve as a delegate, you must be a confirmed, adult member of St. Augustine. VOCAL RECITAL FEATURING BUD JOHNSON On Saturday, January 29th, at 7:30pm, Bud Johnson, long time member of St. Augustine, will give a free hour-long vocal recital in the Nave. All are welcome and invited to attend. YOUTH SERVICE PROJECT AT RED BUFFALO FARMS All youth in grades 5-12, along with friends and parents, are welcome to meet at the home of Traci and Jason Eliot/Red Buffalo Farm, Sunday, January 30th at 2pm for our monthly service project for SISU Youth Services. We will recall Jesus’ first miracle at the Wedding feast of Cana, by having a reception of various types of flavored H2O and MIO wines brought by our guest preacher, lecturer and vintner the Rev. Bob Wickizer. Please join us as we raise a glass at this festive event. ADULT FORUM: WHY EPISCOPALIANS NEED TO CELEBRATE WINE! Please join us Sunday, January 16 at 9:35am as The Rev. Bob Wickizer leads us in a discussion on why we Episcopalians have labored far too long under the specter of Biblical taboos cast by practitioners of the dark arts of cultic expansion. It is time for us to come out from hiding under the rock and tell the world that “It’s OK to drink wine and other spirits.” In fact, in most languages, the word “spirit” can mean something from the supernatural world like ghost, angels, or evil spirits as well as a fermented beverage that can induce varying degrees of euphoria. Come join us as we debunk a lot of the common religious nonsense about wine, beer, and alcohol in general. GUEST PREACHER MLK SUNDAY Our guest preacher on Sunday, January 16th will be the Reverend Bob Wickizer, who is the retired rector of Grace Episcopal Church in Muskogee and co-owner of Pecan Creek Winery, also in Muskogee. Before coming to Muskogee, Fr. Bob served as adjunct-priest at Washington National Cathedral as well as other parishes in the Washington DC area. As a physicist, Fr. Bob designed medical X-ray CT and MRI scanners and taught at two medical schools. He started two software companies in Silicon Valley and sold both to public firms before going to seminary. In retirement, he is a winemaker and is writing a fictionalized memoir titled “Lies We Tell Our Children. |
