WEEK OF APRIL 4, 2022 AT SAINT AUGUSTINE OF CANTERBURY EPISCOPAL CHURCH, OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA4/6/2022 ST. AUGUSTINE’S WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS WATCH THROUGH THE NIGHT
On Maundy Thursday, we will continue our tradition of tasting the Passover Foods, washing the feet of members, and celebrating the Institution of the Eucharist. This year, we will be blessed to have St. James Episcopal Church join us. Our beloved Deacon Robby Trammell will preach and Fr. Cuco Escalera will concelebrate. Also, as part of our venerable tradition we will participate in the "The Watch Through the Night." Clipboards for the Watch through the Night will be passed around Sunday, April 10th during the services and will also be available in the Commons Area afterwards. We encourage you to pick a 30-minute slot to pray in the Chapel at the conclusion of the service. ENHANCE OUR EASTER WORSHIP Many of us associate Easter with new life and Spring. Maybe you would like to remember a loved one, or honor someone with flowers that will beused to enhance our worship as we celebrate the risen Christ. If you wish to contribute a financial gift to cover the expense towards flowers & guest musicians for our Easter celebrations, you may do so by sending an email to the church, office@sacokc.org or sign the chart in the Commons Area. Please include information on who your donation will be in memory or in honor of. Thank you in advance for your participation in making this a successful program. LENTEN ADULT FORUM: “THE CHOSEN.” As we continue our Lenten Adult Study Series we invite you to join us at 11:00 a.m., or in the evening at 6:45 p.m. This Lenten season we will focus on The Chosen, an amazing, biblically-centered television series. Our opportunity to watch the life of Jesus in this fresh way will be supported by reading of the Gospels, reflecting on poignant questions, and group interaction. A lite soup supper will be shared prior to the program at 6:00 pm. LENTEN OUTREACH: “JOURNEY WITH JESUS” Due to COVID, Oklahoma County Foster Care and Adoption recruitment efforts have decreased greatly and are in need of your help. Oklahoma Foster uses a grassroots approach to coordinate foster care recruitment efforts between our community partners, local businesses, faith and nonprofit organizations to solve the foster care crisis in Oklahoma. During Lent, we have a goal of collecting 50 new or gently used suitcases and “care packages” for the older youth ages 13-17 in care. A list of the items needed for the “Care Packages” are available in the Commons Area. Once you have purchased the suitcase and/or the care package items, please drop off the items in the Commons. FIRST + THIRD YOUTH NIGHT Calling all youth and their families. You are invited to our bimonthly First + Third Youth Night. We will meet this Wednesday, April 6th from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the church. Teens in the 5th-12th grade are invited. If you have any questions, please contact our Minister of Youth and Families Jesse Heath at jesse.heath@sac-okc.org or (405) 856-2025.
