The Rev. Lance A. Schmitz
Fr.. Lance A Schmitz is fourth generation Oklahoman and resident of OKC for almost 20 years. Accompanying him in the adventure of ministry is his wife of nearly 18 years, Ashley a Nurse Practitioner , their book and baseball loving 8 year old son Arlo and their little spitfire ballerina superhero 3 year old daughter Lola.
Prior to coming to St Augustine Fr. Lance served as the youth minister at St Paul's cathedral and before that served as a minister in the Church of the Nazarene in a variety of pastoral roles primarily helping others finding ways to exercise the works of mercy in everyday life. “To serve the poor and vulnerable is to make room for Jesus in your life.” is one of Fr. Lance's operating philosophies.
Lance is gregarious personality and loves meeting strangers because everyone has a story, and each person matters. Being a pastor to him affords him the opportunity to share life, listen to stories, and to help others seek out the places in the world where God is at work in healing the broken places. "There is no higher or more fulfilling calling for people than to be known as a disciple of Jesus Christ." is a phrase he often speaks as he shares his love for Jesus and others.
He is always on a quest for the next interesting person, fascinating book, or a cup of coffee.
