EXPLANATION OF SERVICES
Sunday Mornings at 8:30 AM
Sunday Mornings at 8:30 AM - 8:30 Sunday Services are a solemn Holy Eucharist service. The service is normally conducted from the Rite One liturgy in the Book of Common Prayer. Music is solely from the Hymnal 1982 and a slightly shorter homily delivered from "the chair" is offered rather than a sermon. The service is a "sung" service and incense is used. The entire service normally runs between 50-55 minutes.
Coffee and refreshments are offered after this liturgy.
Sunday Mornings at 10:45 AM
10:45 Sunday Services are a celebration Holy Eucharist service. The service begins with confession and absolution so that all participants enter the celebration and worship with clean hearts and minds. The service is normally conducted from the Rite Two liturgy in the Book of Common Prayer.
The service includes a Children's Moment given normally at the altar, before they go to Children's Chapel for their own readings and lessons. The children return to partake in the Eucharist with their families. Music is a blend of contemporary praise and traditional, accompanied by a praise group with guitar, piano, drums and organ. Some weeks we have guest musicians.
The service features significant involvement by members of the congregation. This service follows an ancient-modern approach to the liturgy. Chiefly, the congregation is invited to use symbols and gestures in a wholistic worship of God in which the five senses are engaged, as well as movement, each week in the hopes that not only the mind but the spirit of the worshipper is touched.
The entire service normally runs 1 hour 15 minutes.
Coffee and refreshments are served after this liturgy.
THE WAY OF LOVE: PRACTICES FOR A JESUS-CENTERED LIFE – As we engage the ancient practice of setting aside Lent as a period of study and preparation for living as a Christian disciple, our forums this year encourage participants to embrace the transforming reality of love, life, and liberation. This series of study and reflection is encouraged by Presiding Bishop Michael Curry and our own Bishop Ed. We will meet weekly in the Parish Hall on Wednesday evenings, March 13 through April 24, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a light dinner followed by our session, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday at Noon
Noon Wednesday Services are usually small gatherings of close to 20 participants who share in a contemplative Rite Two service with no music. The service offers a homily, prayers and Holy Eucharist, and runs 25-30 minutes
